ARCHITECTURE STARTS WITH A LINE

It starts with a line. To get the kernel of an idea from my head to a sheet of paper or even a computer screen, the journey goes through a few iterations before forming the parti for the beginning of an architectural design. Whether it is the design for a building or space, the final work of art on paper or canvas, or even capturing light in a photograph, for me, it usually begins with a line.

INSPIRATION + EXPLORATION = PROCESS

The process is not exclusive of or to the final outcome. It is defined by the rigor and the level of depth of the exploration. It is defined by the failure of testing a design hypothesis over and over until it is exhausted. It becomes the beginning of something when either by time or by continued inspiration that the exploration into a design then emerges.
